In interpreting what the Bible says about the nations in the end times, CI Scofield, when he published his famous Study Bible in 1909, interpreted Ezekiel 38 and 39 to mean that Russia would invade Israel in the end times. That interpretation was questioned and even ridiculed. The scholars asked: How can you say that these chapters prophesy a Russian invasion of Israel? Russia is an Orthodox Christian nation, and Israel doesn't even exist! There is also no possibility of Israel ever existing again. Scofield's response was simple: I don't understand it, and I can't explain it, but the Bible says it, and therefore I believe it. Today, one hundred years later, Israel exists and Russia is anything but a Christian nation.
